OUR FOUNDER - DON RUBEN DURAN ITURRALDE
Campo Guadalupe starts off in 1950 by Don Ruben Duran Iturralde, born in the town of Altar, Sonora the 23rd of february of 1923. Having only completed high school, he decided to join the labor market to support income at home, gaining experience in the branch of blacksmithing, mining and perforation of wells. In 1950, he marries Maria Luisa Fontes Valle, who accompanies him at the beginning in agriculture and with whom he has 6 children. Just after their marriage, the couple acquires 20 hectares belonging to the Ejido Pitiquito, fertile land and abundant water. Given the good harvests of cotton and hard work and commitment to his family, Don Rubén expands his crops alternating between sorghum, safflower and cucumber. This enables him to acquire more
land, and makes it possible to combine agriculture with a small herd of dairy cattle. Don Ruben and Doña Licha earned recognition for being an distinguished couple, with a united family of valuable principles and unconditional support, and also for their commitment with their community . After 69 years of marriage, Doña Licha dies in 2012 and after 91 years Don Rubén dies a year later on September 16, 2013 surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Campo Guadalupe is inherited to Luis Rubén Duran Fontes, (Don Ruben's eldest son) who, given his interest in fulfilling the obligation and the commitment to continue his legacy in agricultural activity, gave step as director to his son Luis Rubén Duran Colosio, grandson of Don Ruben.
With a degree in Administration from the Tecnológico de Monterrey (Campus Monterrey) and an entrepreneurial vision, he assumes the Campo's directive giving formal start to the company Impulso Agropecuario Guadalupe S. de P.R. de R.L. de C.V. As his grandfather, he has shown great commitment to improve agricultural practices and support the community, so he saw the need to modernize Campo Guadalupe in infrastructure, engineering, technified irrigation systems for the rational and optimal use of water, the process systematization and the continuous training of personnel. Doing all this to consolidate in the company those standards necessary to obtain the certification to access international markets.
Thanks to all the efforts done generation through generation and to the constant support between brothers and their families, we have been able to harvest succesfully Watermelon and Greenbeans.
